How to register and pay for registration?
LMA2026 is using a secure site, Sticky Tickets Pty Ltd, to process online payment of your charges. The payment options are:
Credit card - You can conveniently pay for your ticket(s) online using VISA, MasterCard, or American Express. It's important to note that transactions with American Express will have an additional 1.75% surcharge, payable by the ticket purchaser.
EFT - If a registrant opts for this payment method, the chosen ticket/s will be temporarily reserved for them for 30 days. The guest will receive an email confirmation with detailed instructions on how to settle the invoice, along with a copy of the invoice for the reservation. To ensure registrants stay informed about their invoice status, Sticky Tickets automatically sends email reminders (7, 3, and 2 days before the invoice expiry date). If the registrant misses the payment deadline, they'll receive an email notification, informing them that their invoice has expired, and their tickets are no longer reserved for purchase. If the payment is processed and received by Sticky Tickets within the specified timeframe, registrants will receive an email confirmation, along with their e-tickets.
How do I extend the EFT invoice payment due date?
Contact lmasymposiumoz@gmail.com to extend the invoice payment due date. Please note: we cannot extend beyond the start date of the symposium. Payments must be received by 1 February 2026.
I need to cancel my registration — are there fees or refunds I need to know about?
CANCELLING YOUR REGISTRATION WILL INCUR A FEE
Should your circumstances change, and you are unable to attend the symposium, if you opted in for Secure My Refund click here.
If you did not, you can request a refund. Refunded registration cancellations are available up to 30 days before the symposium start, 3 January 2026. Cancellations received after this date will not be refunded. If you have not yet paid for your attendance at the time of cancellation, this must be paid in full. Sticky Tickets will retain 1.5% of the ticket value. This fee covers the banks non-refundable merchant fees and administration costs.
In accordance with the above policy, cancellations made:
Before 3/1/2026 will be eligible for a full refund less 1.5% Sticky Tickets fee
On or after 3/1/2026 will not be eligible for a refund
If I’m unable to attend, can I transfer my registration to a colleague? (Delegate Substitution)
In the event you are unable to attend the symposium, substitution of your registration is available to an unregistered colleague or friend through Sticky Tickets. Any reimbursement for registration and additional costs must be sought directly with the new attendee.
Where is LMA2026 being held?
LMA2026 will be held at the University of Sydney on City Road, Camperdown. This is the University’s biggest campus, featuring 72 hectares of state-of-the-art teaching and learning technology, including six libraries, art galleries, historical museums, perfectly manicured lawns. The Camperdown campus is also home to the following faculties and schools: Architecture, Design and Planning; Arts and Social Sciences; Business; Engineering; Law; Medicine and Health; and Science. How do I get from the airport to the symposium location?
If you’re arriving by plane, Sydney Airport is located just 8km from the Sydney CBD and driving takes about 25 minutes in light traffic. You can access taxis and rideshare services when you arrive. You'll find taxi ranks at the front of all terminals — simply follow the signs to the nearest ranks. For rideshare services, please arrange with your driver to meet you at our priority pick-up area. Sydney Airport is located just 13 minutes by train from the city. Airport Link offers a fast and convenient way to reach the city and suburbs, with trains running approximately every 10 minutes.
What sort of accommodation is available?
LMA2026 will be held at the University of Sydney on City Road, Camperdown. The central location of the symposium means you’ll have plenty of options when it comes to finding accommodation. How do I submit an abstract?
Please submit your symposium abstract through our webform on the Abstract Submission page.
Include a title, authors and main presenter, an abstract of no more than 250 words, and the proposed session where you best fit. This extended opportunity is provided so that LMA2026 best serves the professional community.
Submissions will open on 1 September 2025. Oral abstract submission will close on 31st October 2025. Poster abstract submission will close on 30th November 2025.
Are there abstract templates and guidelines?
Yes, you should download the Abstract Template and Guidelines document before submitting your abstract. Please see the Abstract Submission page for more information.
How long should my abstract be?
Abstracts should be no longer than 250 words.
How should the abstract be formatted?
Please use A4 (210 mm x 297 mm) paper size. The abstract should be less than 250 words, with page margins of 25 mm all around. Use font type Arial, with single spaced lines. Title of the paper (14 points, bolded) is followed by one blank line. The presenting author’s name should be underlined. Author’s affiliations (12 points, italic, centred) and email address of the contact person are written in separate rows. Abstract text (12 points) in paragraphs. The abstract may include one figure with the figure caption (12 points, italic, centred) underneath the figure. The abstract including figure should fit on a single page.

Do I have to be a Light Microscopy Australia (LMA) member to submit an abstract?
No, you do not need to be a member. But we highly recommend you join our parent society Australian Microscopy and Microanalysis Society and tick the box to join the LMA special interest group: click here to become a member.
What is the theme of LMA2026?
The symposium will cover a variety of themes across a range of areas of Light Microscopy. The themes will be dedicated to exploring the latest advances in Light Microscopy and its applications to solving research questions.
Who is LMA?
LMA is the Light Microscopy Australia special interest group of Australia Microscopy and Microanalysis Society.
We are a national organisation holding meetings, workshops, seminars or key note lecture programs independently or in conjunction with the our parent organisation, AMMS. Our members are notified of meetings, activities and microscopy information. Our objective is the advancement of the science and techniques of light microscopy including:

Image analysis and recording
Photography and equipment care / selection etc
Applications include biology, pathology, IVF, ecology, electronics, metallurgy/materials, chemistry, teaching or other sciences.

Who is AMMS?
AMMS is the Australian Microscopy & Microanalysis Society, a member-run society dedicated to the promotion of microscopy, microanalysis, and related techniques across a broad range of scientific disciplines. Our membership comprises professionals using microscopy techniques from universities, government labs, and industry, together with representatives of instrument manufacturers and their agents. We organise national conferences, specialist symposia, and workshops to provide opportunities for members to develop their knowledge and understanding of microscopy techniques and their applications, and produce a quarterly newsletter.
